2020 Annual Business Meeting - December 3, 2020 

Please review this document showing the Constitutional changes that will be discussed during the Business Meeting.

Dear NAEPSDP Members,

The Board of Directors are recommending changes to the Constitution and Bylaws of the Association. This email serves as the required 30 day notice to the membership of this recommendation.

Summary: These changes to Article IV, sections 4 and 6 of the Constitution and Article VII, section 1 transfer the responsibility of operating NAEPSDP elections from the Secretary to the Past President. They also charge the Past President with ensuring there are no conflicts of interest in the election process.

Reasoning: The position of Secretary is up for election every year, which currently places the Secretary in the position of managing election data while, potentially, being on the ballot. It is unusual for the Past President to be running for any office while in that role, allowing the Past President to act as a disinterested superintendent of the election data and processes. The conflict of interest charge allows the Past President to ensure that someone who is disinterested superintends the election processes and data.

These changes will be addressed during the Business Meeting on December 3, 2020.
